About Maan Engineering

Coating Equipment for the Building & Construction Industry

Your sustainability, is our innovation

Our vision:

From the moment we wake up, we are surrounded by laminated materials: in furniture, building panels, cars, acoustic systems and flooring. These materials and items cannot function without strong coating solutions, and neither can we. All these materials depend on accurate and durable adhesion.

That is precisely what drives us at Maan. We want to raise the bar for sustainable production. To make a difference in the market. With equipment that is built to last. With an eye to the next generation and all generations that follow. That is why we go beyond machines.

Why PUR Hotmelt?

In light of sustainability, many manufacturers are shifting from cold glue to PUR hot-melt coatings—and for good reasons. PUR hot-melt adhesives not only improve efficiency but also offer significant sustainable benefits:

  • Less harmfull to our environment: Most PUR hot-melt adhesives are solvent-free, meaning they don’t release harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). This reduces air pollution and makes them a healthier choice for your workplace environment.
  • Less waste: Hot-melt adhesives are highly efficient in their application, minimizing excess material waste. This contributes to a more sustainable production process by optimizing the use of resources.
  • Faster curing time: The quick curing time of hot-melt adhesives leads to faster processing, reducing energy consumption during production and improving overall efficiency.
  • Durability and longevity: The strong, durable bonds created by PUR hot-melt adhesives extend the life of your products.
  • Compatibility: Hot-melt adhesives are compatible with a wide range of materials like wood, metal, plastic, textiles, and cardboard. This versatility simplifies production and supports a more sustainable, streamlined process.

By making the switch to PUR hot-melt coating, you’re not just improving your processes and operations—you’re also contributing to a more sustainable future. Want to learn more? Our experts are ready to answer your questions.

Product descriptions

Roller Coater:

The Roller Coater is the basis of Maan Engineering’s Sheet-2-Sheet Equipment. After optional pre-treatment, the panels are automatically or manually fed into the Roller Coater, where a precisely measured layer of adhesive is applied to one or both sides. The Maan Roller Coater sets itself apart thanks to heated steel rollers, adjustable seals, robustness and quality.

Heated and coated coating rollers

The heated rollers in the Roller Coater are driven separately. Depending on the application, the rollers are coated. This coating layer has an anti-adhesive effect, ensuring that the roller is easy to clean.

Seals

The hot melt is applied to the Roller Coater with hot-melt guns cleverly positioned above the coating roller and doctor blade. This prevents old adhesive gathering at the edges of the roller. Maan Roller Coaters are also equipped with Tefl on seals as standard, positioned on the roller.

Single or double sided bonding

Depending on your products and processes, the coating rollers apply the PUR Hot Melt coating on either one or both sides. The Roller Coater Top only bonds the top side. With the Double version, the transport roller at the bottom is replaced by a coating roller and doctor blade, and hot-melt guns are also installed. This allows adhesive to be applied to two sides of a panel via a passage.

Operating controls

The Maan Roller Coater is easy to operate, thanks to a powerful and user-friendly graphic interface based on Siemens components.

Options

Various options are available for the standard Roller Coater, so it can be set up entirely according to your needs. If you’d like to find out more about Maan Roller Coater options, please contact our sales manager.

Maan Melting Equipment:

Melt adhesive while maintaining quality

A melt-on-demand, pre-melt system that guarantees the best coating quality. The Drum Melter in the Sheet-2-Sheet Equipment ensures rapid start-up and process control.

Automatic ventilation valve

The automatic ventilation and venting valve is unique to Maan Engineering's Drum Melter. When production stops, the adhesive is automatically pumped out of the circuit to avoid contact with the air.

Glue Pressure Sensor

This sensor monitors constant adhesive pressure and system safety. If the pressure sensor indicates no demand for adhesive, the pressure is lowered and the pump switches off.

Different melting plates

The Maan Drum Melter only melts the top layer of the hot-melt adhesive. Depending on adhesive consumption, the Drum Melter can be fitted with a smooth, ribbed or axial melting plate.

Level Sensor: powerful combination

Together, the Roller Coater and Drum Melter are a successful team. The level sensor in the Roller Coater measures the amount of adhesive in the adhesive buffer. When it’s low, this sensor sends a warning to the Drum Melter, and the pre-melter is topped up.

Rotary Laminatin Press

The Maan Rotary Laminating Press is a high-quality calendering machine. This rolling machine calenders the double or triple laminate, after the (PUR) Hot Melt has been applied and the laminating process has taken place. The purpose of the Maan Rotary Laminating Press is to establish the material bond. The primary function is therefore not to compress, but to allow the glue to be transferred from the glued panel to the laminate. The correct settings of height and speed are therefore very important. The user-friendly graphics HMI and the possibilities of fine tuning ensure that the Maan Rotary Laminating Press contributes to the production of panels in the highest quality.

Separately driven rollers

The two rollers in the Rotary Laminating Press are driven separately from one another by powerful motors. The advantage of this is that the roller speed can be set individually via the touchscreen display. This prevents the formation of “bananas” on panels made of flexible materials

Electronic height adjustment

The distance from the upper roller to the lower roller can be adjusted via the touchscreen display. The rollers are then moved electrically to the correct position. This electric height adjustment ensures continuity in the production process and flexibility to handle various material thicknesses. The Rotary Laminating Press can be easily integrated into a production line where the mother machine then varies the pass height per panel.

Integration

The combination of Drum Melter, Roller Coater and Rotary Laminating Press creates a strong production line. A central control system allows flexible and efficient processing of various types and dimensions of material. The Maan Rotary Laminating Press is prepared for integration into a (semi-)automatic production line.
